    Do I need more Memory?

So how do you know if your computer is due for a memory upgrade? Well, the following information should help you determine the answer to this question:

    • Has your machine recently started to slow down? This could have happened due to the installation of more software or because you are now utilising more applications on that machine all at once.
    • Can you hear your hard drive working more than usual? This is generally due to information being passed to and from the hard drive as there is not enough memory to handle all of the system's requests.
    • Are you looking at upgrading your operating system? When you upgrade your operating system, there will be a minimum amount of memory required to install it. You will then need to consider how much memory you will need to run any additional applications on your machine.
    • Are you receiving "Low Memory" notifications from the operating system? You may see messages such as "Low Memory" or "Out of Memory" when your machine cannot handle your request because all available memory is being used by other operations. At this point, you would usually need to close down the machine and reboot to refresh the RAM before continuing.
